Virginia Station Wins Reduction in EAS Fine

Virginia Station Wins Reduction in EAS Fine

The FCC has reduced a fine against a small Virginia gospel station, from $8,000 to $1,500.
WBLB in Pulaski was fined for repeated violation of the EAS rules, based on inspections in 2003 and 2004 in which the station’s equipment malfunctioned, according to the commission. The FCC also said it had not received a response to its original notice.
The station, located in the Appalachian region of Virginia, argued that it had taken corrective actions, had a history of compliance and was unable to pay. The commission accepted the latter two arguments and reduced the fine.
