WCEE(LP), FCC Settle Underwriting Case

WCEE(LP), FCC Settle Underwriting Case

An LPFM will pay $1,000 for violating underwriting laws. In a consent decree between the FCC and WCEE(LP) in Melbourne, Fla., the licensee, Brevard Youth Education broadcasting Corp., admitted it aired material that violated the commission’s underwriting laws and pledged to establish a review procedure for underwriting and make sure employees are aware of it. In exchange, its penalty is being called a “voluntary contribution” to the U.S. Treasury and the station cannot ask for an appeal.
The commission found no information that made it question whether Brevard has the basic qualifications to be a broadcast licensee.
