The Senate Judiciary Committee has slated a hearing for Wednesday on Internet copyright royalties. Arbitron, the RIAA, select streamers and the Digital Media Association are slated to appear before lawmakers.
Next Tuesday is the deadline for the Copyright Office to decide on the Copyright Arbitration Royalty Panel’s proposed rates and record-keeping requirements. Last week, several Webcasters told lawmakers they will have to shut down their businesses if the proposed CARP royalty is approved as is.
