Westwood One News Looks at 2016

Two long-form programs and smaller filler to be available starting Dec. 22

As the year comes to an end, programming producer and syndicator Westwood One News is producing its traditional year-end roundups.

Two programs are available — “The Year in Review — The Big Stories,” anchored by “First Light” host Evan Haning, and “The Year in Review — People, Sports and Entertainment,” anchored by “America in the Morning” host John Trout.

From the same source will be smaller “Year in Review” one-minute “reports” for use. Presenting the reports are WWO News regulars such as Bob Costantini, Steve Kastenbaum, Jim Roope, Ann Cates, Chas Henry, Michael Toscano, and Barbara Kusak.

A release reminds potential users of some of the top stories of the year to be covered: “the Democratic and Republican campaigns for the White House and the election of Donald Trump; terror attacks at home and abroad; re-establishment of diplomatic relations with Cuba and the death of Fidel Castro; police shootings of unarmed victims; the deadly outbreak of the Zika virus; Brexit; the Cubs amazing World Series win and other sports; the deaths of Prince, David Bowie, and other celebrities and newsmakers; a record high stock market; Hurricane Matthew; and top entertainment stories.”

WWO News plans for program use to be from Dec. 22 to Jan. 2.
