Amazon smartspeaker users can listen to short interviews featuring U.S. Olympians by saying, “Alexa, open Westwood One Sports.”
And starting the night of Feb. 9, Westwood One says, it will broadcast live from PyeongChang, South Korea, via its Amazon Alexa skill through Feb. 25. Users can listen to content live, when available, on demand or just hear about the day’s highlights.
The skill will also offer 17 “Today in PyeongChang” live installments, according to a press release.
The broadcaster collaborated with XAPPmedia to launch the Westwood One Alexa skill in time for the opening ceremonies.
“Westwood One Sports has broadcast every Olympics since 1988. This year we are bringing the Olympic pageantry and competitive spirit to Amazon Alexa users for the very first time,” Cumulus EVP of Corporate Marketing and Westwood One President Suzanne Grimes said in the announcement.
