WorldSpace Satellite Radio launched subscription service in four new markets in India: Goa, Jaipur, Nagpur and Trivandrum.
Collectively, the markets represent a potential of approximately 2.6 million consumers who would fall into the WorldSpace targeted listener base. The addition would expand the company’s target market penetration to nearly 38 million consumers in that country.
WorldSpace satellite radios are available in some 100 retail outlets in the Indian markets, with more expected soon. The satcaster provides approximately 40 channels of digital programming to India.
In February, WorldSpace launched in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal state and the second largest Indian city.
