WTMJ’s Charlie Sykes with a veteran that participated in the recent Stars and Stripes Honor Flights.
E.W. Scripps WTMJ(AM) in Milwaukee has completed two “Stars and Stripes Honor Flights” last weekend.
The “Stars and Stripes Honor Flights” are charter air flights for aged vets to visit Washington and see sites such as Arlington National Cemetery and the Iwo Jima Memorial.
The weekend flights delivered 140 vets.
WTMJ personalities and management such as John Mercure, Charlie Sykes, Jane Matenaer, Greg Matzek, Jay Sorgi, Eric Brooks and Tom Langmyer we able to serve as guardians and media members on the Honor Flights. The radio station raised over $250,000 for the trips.
Stars and Stripes Honor Flight Vice President for Public Relations Karyn Roelke said, “We are humbled by the absolutely incredible support of WTMJ Radio. Many of our veterans have already told us that, aside from their wedding day and the birth of their children, their Honor Flight day was the best day they have ever had.”
