XM 6.5 + Sirius 4

Adding recent announcements together, there are now more than 10.5 million subscribers to satellite radio in the United States.
XM said this week it added more than 568,000 net subscribers during the first quarter and is now at 6.5 million. The company projects 9 million by year’s end. President/CEO Hugh Panero said XM enjoyed a “substantial reduction” in the cost to acquire a new subscriber as compared to the fourth quarter.
A couple of weeks ago, competitor Sirius said it had passed 4 million.
