When it comes to Hillary, Rudy, Barack and Mitt, XM is answering with Joe, Cameron and Gary.
XM is staffing up for its channel “P.O.T.U.S. ‘08,” devoted to the 2008 presidential election. It plans a September launch.
Joe Mathieu is joining as programming director for P.O.T.U.S. ‘08. Mathieu comes from MarketWatch Radio Network, where was managing editor and anchor.
Cameron Gray has been named executive producer. Gray was operations director at WJFK(FM), Washington and executive producer for Westwood One’s “G. Gordon Liddy Show.”
Gary Starikoff will be producer. Gary has been with XM for three years, most recently as show producer for the baseball talk radio channel MLB Home Plate.
The channel will be free on XM, meaning people who have XM radios, but do not subscribe to the service, can listen. XM is producing the channel with C-SPAN and other news outlets, including non-traditional media such as bloggers and podcasters. It will air through the 2008 presidential election.
