Yamaha Shows Pocketrak 2G Pocket Recorder

Super slim, and can handle three hours of stereo uncompressed audio.

Yamaha this spring is highlighting what it calls a “pocket recorder,” the Pocketrak 2G.

Weighing 1.7 ounces including rechargeable battery, the 1/2 inch Pocketrak 2G is about the size of a butane cigarette lighter and includes 2 GB of internal memory — enough for three hours of uncompressed PCM stereo recording.

According to the company, the rechargeable battery can keep the Pocketrak 2G running for up to 19 hours continuously when recording in MP3 mode. The recorder incorporates a stereo “flip-up” stereo mic and has a 1/8 inch mic jack.

The integrated USB 2.0 connector allows for high-speed data transfers to a PC or Mac-based DAW. Despite the small size, it includes a speaker to review recordings, an external mic/line input and a headphone output. Variable playback speed enables faster review of recordings.

Additionally, the Pocketrak 2G comes bundled with Cubase AI digital audio workstation software.
