YouTube Notches 100 Million Viewers in January

Google is top U.S. video property

YouTube has surpassed the mark of 100 million U.S. viewers in a given month.

Research firm comScore said that in January, U.S. Internet users overall viewed 14.8 billion online videos, up 4% from December, with YouTube accounting for 91 percent of the incremental gain in the number of videos viewed.

Google Sites repeated as the top U.S. video property with 6.4 billion videos viewed, or 43% online video market share. accounted for more than 99 percent of videos viewed there. Fox Interactive Media ranked second with 552 million videos, followed by Yahoo! sites and Viacom Digital.

Some 147 million U.S. Internet users watched an average of 101 videos per viewer in January. The company also found that more than three-quarters of the total U.S. Internet audience viewed online video in January. The average online video viewer watched about six hours’ worth in the month.
