Internet Travels

Mr. Microphone, gateway drug for young broadcasters

In the course of my “Internet travels” and the links that friends send and post, I have managed to gather some links that I hope you might enjoy too. These links may be “off your beaten path,” but you might just learn something or pass them forward to other interested friends.

Back-Timing
Here’s a fun collection of instrumental songs. Back in the days of having a necessity to back-time to hit top-of-the-hour news, we often grabbed and instrumental song (since you could fade it out at any point). We got to know the length of some songs, like short ones like “The Letter,” when we weren’t simply going “lazy into the news with an instrumental.” Here’s a list of some of the instrumental songs someone has collected from the ’60s and ’70s.

“Hey Good lookin,’ I’ll be back to pick you up later!”
If you watched TV in the late 1970s, you might remember that line from a TV commercial (and later referential jokes). If you were a kid and into broadcasting, it might have been your $15 introduction into the world of radio broadcasting. That’s right! It’s Mr. Microphone.

Tesla … for Free
If you love stories and info on Nikola Tesla (and what respectable engineer doesn’t?), here’s a free eBook called “The Inventions, Researches and Writings of Nikola Tesla,” by Thomas Commerford.

And Finally …

Future Hotels
Here are some cool wild concepts of future hotels.
