The EmPower Controller VNA from American Amplifier Technologies combines intelligent SNMP-based remote monitoring, site automation and an integrated Vector Network Analyzer. It promises to provide continuous, real-time visibility into RF transmission systems — transmitter to antenna — without requiring a site visit or taking the station off-air.
The company said EmPower Controller VNA delivers two complementary forms of RF analysis.
Time-domain reflectometry continuously monitors the feedline and antenna system, comparing live measurements against a saved baseline to detect and locate faults anywhere along the transmission line. When a discrepancy is detected it calculates the distance to the fault and alerts the engineer via mobile app or email so corrective action can be taken before the issue becomes an outage.
Frequency-domain analysis provides a full picture of system performance across the broadcast spectrum, the company said, enabling engineers to evaluate VSWR, return loss and overall antenna health.
