Broadcast Electronics will kick off the Radio Show with a free seminar on the business opportunities and operational challenges of HD Radio.

Broadcast Electronics will kick off the Radio Show with a free seminar on the business opportunities and operational challenges of HD Radio.

“HD Radio: All the Basics and More” will be held from to 5 p.m. in the Miro Room at the Hilton Anatole, Dallas, on Tuesday, Sept. 19. A second offering with the same agenda and time will be held Wednesday in the Travertine Room.

Speakers will discuss how stations are converting and the impact on station operations, listeners and the bottom line. Multicasting and messagecasting will be explored, along with a look at how Internet broadcasting has played a role in HD Radio implementations. Technical planning, system architectures and the nuts and bolts of conversion will be discussed.

BE asks those planning to attend to RSVP at its Web site.

In addition to the seminar, BE will show its line of transmitters and studio products, including HD Radio transmission, studio multicasting and its Messagecasting suite. BE’s Messagecasting products from The Radio Experience offer applications for managing, scheduling and formatting messages for readout on HD Radio and RDS tuners, as well as over the Web.

Options include online connectivity to the company’s TRE Data Center for real-time song information lookup with message “laundering,” and EAS function for transmitting emergency text messages originated by civil authorities. Traffic and other data provided by outside services can be added as plug-in applications that work alongside native applications.
