Comrex Aiming for XOHM Compatibility

Posts a white paper about Hartnett's testing

Comrex is working on making its Access stereo BRIC IP codecs compatible with Sprint Nextel’s XOHM network.

XOHM is a mobile WiMAX-based broadband network designed to eliminate separation between home-based broadband and leaner mobile offerings.

Tom Hartnett, technical director for the manufacturer, said, “For quite some time, we had been aware of the potential that WiMAX technology would offer for our customers. The promise of 2 to 4 Mbps download and 0.5 to 1.5 Mbps uploads in a mobile format would give our Access users a great platform for transmission of live broadcast content.”

The Sprint Nextel XOHM network is being launched on a city-by-city basis.

Hartnett blogs about it, and provides a link to a Comrex white paper on the topic.
