New products from Global Security Systems at NAB2007 will include a USB stick for emergency alerts, an emergency warning receiver and geo-targeted FM-based mobile advertising.

GSS is a systems integrator, service provider and the manufacturer of the First Alert System.

The USB stick for emergency alerts plugs into a Windows PC to connect the computer to the GSSNet Public Warning and Alert System. The stick presents relevant alerts and messages; it sports a built-in FM tuner and supports RDS.

At less than $25 each in quantity, the Emergency Warning Receiver is a wireless, battery-driven receiver designed for mass distribution of alerting messages to the public. The device uses the national FM transmission network to deliver data to the receiver.

And finally, the manufacturer says, brands are exploring the potential of using wireless appliances as an advertising channel. Mobile advertising depends on the ability to target specific groups of consumers.

GSS has introduced FM-based geo-targeting, delivering location-based identification for advertising purposes. The FM-based data channel uses the display, antenna, battery and microcontroller of the current appliances and leverages the FM signal to deliver mobile advertising data.
