Genelec Chooses Compact

New three-way triamplified speaker takes smaller footprint

Powered monitor maker Genelec is thinking smaller these days, or at least more compact.

The latest from Finland is the three-way, triamplified 1238CF.

The business ends of the 1238CF are twin eight-inch LF drivers, a five-inch midrange driver and a one-inch metal dome HF driver. All drivers are magnetically shielded.

Power is courtesy of a single 150 W amp for the bass and two 120 W amps to handle each of the midrange and HF sections. The amps are acoustically isolated from the 24 inches x 18.5 inches x 10 inches MDF cabinet.

The 1238CF is compatible with Genelec’s GLM speaker management software and the 7200/8200 series products in networks. It can handle digital (32 kHz–192 kHz) and analog inputs. DSP is onboard.
