IP Codec by Tieline Handles STL Work

NAB Sneak Peek: Genie IPv6-ready audio codec

The Tieline Genie is a six-channel IP codec designed for IP-based studio-to-studio and studio-to-transmitter links.

The Genie also is suitable for multicasting over compatible IP networks, receiving IP audio streams from remote broadcast codecs, and (with an optional expansion card) working with 5.1 surround sound or six-channel audio distribution.

The Genie can handle 50 simultaneous stereo connections and is compatible with IPv4 and IPv6 protocols. Other features include a low-latency in-band RS-232 auxiliary data channel, a user-programmable rules engine and multi-language support.

Utilizing the Tieline Codec Management System, users can configure and supervise a network of Genie codecs from a remote computer, thus allowing the creation and management of primary and backup connections, the viewing of audio signal levels and the checking of IP statistics. It is possible to adjust codec settings (algorithms, jitter buffers and forward error correction) according to specific requirements.

The Tieline Genie occupies a 1 rack-unit chassis and is compatible with Session Initiation Protocol and compliant with the EBU N/ACIP tech 3326 standard for audio delivery over IP.
