NAB Sneak Peek: Orban Revamps Processor Lineup

New features, leaner lineup

Well-known processor maker Orban will treat NAB Show visitors to a revamped its FM processing product line that, according to the company, incorporates customers’ most-requested features into a select number of products.

Orban President David Day explained, “We looked at what our customers wanted for features in FM processors, and how to best address those requirements.”

He added that there would be a leaner product lineup as well. “It became evident that there were too many Optimods in our FM product line, and many models did not fully address the needs of our customers. In the end, we eliminated a few models while at the same time improving the feature set of the most popular models. This makes the choice of processor easier for customers and better serves our dealers and end users.”

This will be the first show since the acquisition of Orban by DaySequerra.

The FM processor line now includes the following models: 5500i — now has a full-featured RDS/RBDS generator with PS scrolling; 5700i (pictured) — now has a full-featured RDS/RBDS generator with PS scrolling, as well as FM and HD outputs; 8600Si — now is standard with FM and HD outputs; 8600 FM/HD — now has both FM and HD outputs; and 8700i — to be introduced at NAB 2017 offers a processed low-latency headphone output, Dante AoIP (AES67) and Orban’s newly patented Xponential Loudness algorithm.

All models except the new 8700i are now available. The 8700i will begin shipping immediately following the NAB Show.
