Lawo calls diamond, which was introduced last fall and will be on display at the NAB Show, “the crown jewel” of its line of mixing consoles for radio and TV applications.
The company says it blends form, function and advanced workflow capabilities into a beautiful new package.
“Completely modular, diamond can be sized from two fader ‘personal’ consoles up to 60-fader master-control and production configurations,” said Lawo. “This allows a single studio to host several mixing surfaces that act as a single console, giving producers, hosts and talent direct access to a personalized selection of audio sources and functions.”
Nine module types allow diamond to be tailored to main studios, production facilities, news booths or remote studio operation.
Each button and rotary control can be programmed to fit the user’s workflow. Function keys and rotary selectors with RGB backlights can be color-coded by function. Integration with popular playout systems coupled with context-sensitive full-color displays provide operators with an information-rich mixing environment. Dual-layer operation effectively doubles fader count, according to the company.

The console integrates touchscreen control into the mixing surface with optional Virtual Extension modules — 13.3-inch adjustable-angle HD color touchscreens that complement physical controls with context-sensitive options such as: peak and loudness metering, access to DSP and routing functions, user and snapshot management and custom control screens for playout systems, visual radio equipment, third-party studio gear and custom logic functions (via Lawo VisTool screen design software).
Its mixing/routing core is Power Core, a native AoIP device using the AES67 / Ravenna networking standard. In addition to providing a lot of expandable I/O for AES67, MADI, analog, AES3 and Dante audio sources and destinations, each Power Core can support four mixing consoles/studios.
