WAY Media Installs GatesAir RF Gear

Flexiva installations in Dallas, Nashville and West Palm Beach

From our Who’s Buying What page: WAY Media is continuing a series of installations of GatesAir equipment.

Hope Media engineers Joe Torsitano, Paul Matthews and Phil Jennings at WAYF in West Palm Beach with the Flexiva FLX transmitter.

It recently purchased FM transmitters for KAWA in Dallas, WAYF in West Palm Beach, Fla., and WAY in Nashville. The orders were placed with dealer SCMS.

WAY Media has 54 AM and FM Christian-formatted stations. It recently merged with Hope Media Group.

Phil Jennings, senior director of engineering for Hope Media, was quoted saying, “We have picked up our pace of GatesAir installations since we started replacing more of our older tube transmitters four years ago.” Those purchases include FM transmitters and HD Radio and Intraplex STL products.

“We have been adding HD2 feeds to many of our FM stations, and in some markets we use HD Radio channels to feed translators that extend our over-the-air signals. HD Radio also gives us an opportunity to expand our latest formats including Vida Unida, our Hispanic Christian format.”

The most recent install is of a Flexiva FAX 7.5 kW air-cooled transmitter for WAYM. Earlier this year the Dallas and West Palm Beach stations got Flexiva FLX 20 kW liquid-cooled transmitters.
