Content delivery software developer Wowza Media Systems has announced a new version of its media server.
Version 3 of Wowza Media Server concentrates upon the company mantra of “any screen done right.” That is aiming at delivering and transcoding content for delivery upon all sorts of screens — computers, smartphones, tablets, IPTVs, etc.
Co-founder and CEO Dave Stubenvoll said: “The industry is eager for ‘any-screen’ reach, but the cost and complexity of fragmented client-specific platform requirements have made feature-rich any-screen delivery practically unattainable for all but the largest service providers.”
Media Server 3 offers variable bit-rate streaming, time-shifted playback along with a number of what it calls “value-added components” that provide access to the “any-screen” mediasphere.
