WASHINGTON�American mobile users used 9.6 trillion MB of data last year, more than doubling the 4.1 trillion MB of data they consumed in 2014, accordingCTIA’s latest annual report on the wireless industry.

The wireless consortium said 228.3 million users in the U.S. owned a smartphone in 2015, up nearly 10 percent from the previous year. Americans spent 2.8trillion minutes on their mobile devices, up 17.4 percent year over year. �SMS and MMS traffic combined was up 17 percent.

Capital investment was flat, dipping slightly to $31.9 billion from $32 billion in 2015. �Annual wireless revenue is listed at $191B. �
