DAB+ Network Restarted in Turkey

Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) has relaunched DAB+ test, with two transmitters in Istanbul and Ankara.

ISTANBUL�Turkish Radio and Television Corporation has relaunched DAB+ test, with two transmitters in Istanbul and Ankara, reports WorldDAB.org.TRT Radyo1, TRT Radyo3, TRTFM, TRTNagme and TRTTurku are on the mux, on channel 12B.

In the second stage of the project, TRT wants to add to the DAB+ network by starting transmissions in Izmir, Bursa, Kocaeli, and Antalya, in addition to those in Ankara and Istanbul.�

Seminars on digital broadcasting have been organized for the iTVF, the Turkish Broadcasting Industry�s conference and exhibition, taking place in Istanbul, March 1-3 2016.� WorldDAB.org has helped in the planning stages of the event, according toabu.org.

Participants will include TRT, the Turkish national broadcaster; RATEM (Professional Union of Broadcasting Organizations); and, the regulatory body RT�K � Radyo ve Televizyon �st Kurulu � (Radio and Television Supreme Council).�

DAB was first considered in Turkey in 2002, before receivers were available at affordable prices. �For DAB+, this problem has now been resolved; in the last 10 years, over 30 million DAB / DAB+ receivers have been sold worldwide, and this growth has enabled manufacturers to benefit from economies of scale. �As a result, DAB+ receivers are now available at mass market prices�entry level models are available at �20�and prices are falling every year.
