DRM Consortium Has Strong Presence at India’s BES Conference

Three-quarters of All India Radio’s DRM installations are now on air and an Indian-made receiver is on the market

MUMBAI�The DRM Consortium, its members and partners, had another strong presence at the 22nd�international BES (Broadcasting Engineering Society) conference and exhibition on terrestrial and satellite broadcasting, which took place in New Delhi over the period Feb. 4-6.�Key members Ampegon, Communication Systems INC, Fraunhofer IIS, Nautel, NXP and RFmondial were in attendance.

Three-quarters of All India Radio�s DRM installations are now on air and an Indian-made receiver is on the market.� Under the banner �Digital Radio for All� visitors were able to experience the DRM sound at the Nautel/Comcon stand.

�DRM transmissions will offer the majority of the Indian population improved audio quality similar to FM but across much wider areas, multi-lingual text news, improved service reliability, diversified content and many additional features,� said Ruxandra Obreja, DRM Consortium Chairman.
