Frontier Offers First DAB Module with DMB Radio Reception

Frontier Offers First DAB Module with DMB Radio Reception

Sep 16, 2009 12:45 PM

Frontier Silicon claims its latest digital radio module, Venice 7, is the first of its kind to offer compliance with the World DMB profile 1 standard that include DAB+ as well as the French implementation of DMB radio. The announcement marks something of a coup for Frontier and a relief for radio manufacturers looking to achieve pan-euro digital compatibility for their products.

Supporting analog FM, DAB, DAB+ and DMB Radio, Venice 7’s introduction is seen as especially timely in meeting a need for DMB radio products in France, where several multiplexes are scheduled to launch in the coming year, and where DMB Radio functionality will be required in OEM radios in cars come 2013.

According to Frontier, Venice 7’s software provides multi-language support, Ipod docking with secondary display for artist and track name, power saving features and field upgradable firmware via USB.
