If you are a voiceover talent or are just curious, the place to be is Times Center in New York this Wednesday for “That’s Voiceover.”

It is a gathering of VO pros who will impart their knowledge for fun, profit and charity. Maybe I can get them to loan out their voices for my home answering machine.

Joan Baker, VO pro and author of “Secrets of Voice-over Success,” is the ringleader. She’ll be joined by Alan Kalter of “Late Night With David Letterman” and many other voices recognizable from commercial, TV, film and radio work.

There will even be an “American Idol”-style voiceover talent contest for the audience. The winner gets a shot at a TV promo and agency representation.

One will be forgiven for noticing that the female VO pros are quite easy on the eyes while the males tend to have a face for voiceover work or radio, as they say. Maybe it’s just me.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Alzheimer’s Association. That’s Voiceover is dedicated to VO legend Don “Voice of God” LaFontaine, who passed away in 2008. Info here.
