Collaboration debuts at AutoMobility LA this week

WASHINGTON The National Association of Broadcasters and members of the GENIVI Alliance are collaborating on automotive radio technology, as part of NABs Pilot program. The partnership is highlighted in the GENIVI Showcase in the Technology Pavilion at AutoMobility LA 2017.

GENIVI is a collaborative community of automakers and their suppliers developing open software for in-vehicle infotainment and the connected car, are collaborating on automotive radio technology, according to a press release. The alliance consists of approximately 140 companies, including connected car stakeholders and developers.

Our goal is to advance the in-vehicle radio experience for consumers by engaging with the automotive industry to capitalize on new and emerging technologies, said NAB Chief Technology Officer Sam Matheny, who added that the collaboration offers a unqiue opportunity to liaise with representatives from across the connected car industry.

For GENIVIs part, Executive Director Steve Crumb said, Radio is the genesis of in-vehicle infotainment, and collaborating with NAB provides the opportunity to further advance radio technology and deliver other content for incorporation into the in-vehicle experience of the future.

AutoMobility LA 2017 will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center through Nov. 30. In its first iteration, the show debuted in 1907; and in 2016, the shows Press & Trade Days merged with the Connected Car Expo to become AutoMobility LA, which combines the technology and automotive industries to launch new products and technologies and to discuss transportation and mobility issues.
