Letter: Mandate Quality for AM Receivers, Too

The law must specify standards concerning sensitivity and selectivity

Dear radio colleagues,

We too are concerned about needed legislation to keep AM radio receivers in all vehicles, but also the quality of the receivers.

The law must specify standards concerning sensitivity and selectivity, otherwise car manufacturers could retaliate by including junk AM receivers, which could do more damage than good, training listeners to avoid AM because they can’t hear anything.

While they’re at it, Congress should also mandate digital AM receivers, thus encouraging AM stations to adopt such technology, enhancing the sound quality and help compete with FM and internet.

Sincerely,

Ron Myers
