GatesAir will supply 168 FM transmitters as part of a contract to modernize the national FM infrastructure of Radio Nacional de Angola in southern Africa.

The company said the transmitters are part of turnkey deal that also includes the supply and installation of third-party antennas, towers, auxiliary RF systems and studio digitization from U.S. suppliers. The value of the contract was not made public.

The overall project is called the Angola Radio Signal Expansion and Studio Modernization. It is being financed by the Export-Import Bank of the United States, which recognized the project with a “Deal of the Year” Award this month.

“A recognition of an export transaction for its impact as U.S. exporters compete against China in the global marketplace, this project allowed Mason, Ohio, exporter GatesAir to access EXIM-backed financing and remain competitive,” EXIM said in its announcement.
