Scottish School Uses AEQ for Hands-on Learning

City of Glasgow College is the country's largest technical college

From the Radio World “Who’s Buying What” page: In Scotland, City of Glasgow College is using the Capitol IP 12 console from AEQ to boost its technical training.

The school has two campuses with approximately 27,000 students. Founded in 2010, it is the largest technical college in the country. It encompasses the former Central College, Glasgow Metropolitan College and Glasgow College of Nautical Studies.

The school has a student-operated radio station, called City Radio.

City of Glasgow College’s technical staff sought upgrades, beginning with the renovation of its main training studio, which is part of the school’s television, radio and broadcasting and creative industries program. Students can engage in practical application of broadcasting there through its on-air radio module.

The newly installed AEQ Capitol IP 12 mixing console acts as the hub for all production in the studio. The console has a fixed 12-fader control surface. Its architecture incorporates IP connectivity via an integrated module that allows 16 input and 16 output channels, managed from a single core.

The system offers up to four mic/line inputs, 12 analog channels, four stereo digital AES/EBU and two stereo digital USB inputs, along with optional telephone lines and multichannel digital links.

It also supports 16 AoIP channels via Ethernet connectors or up to 64 MADI channels via fiberoptic input.
