Through many shapes, sizes and variations, student-led radio is still there to uplift those who participate and listen.
And so, for the 16th annual World College Radio Day, the theme appropriately is “Hope – Always in the Air.”
Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Andy Grammer has been named the ambassador for the event, which will take place all day this Friday.
Grammer recorded a Q&A interview that will be broadcast across all participating stations. College radio stations worldwide can still enroll for free.
The live-streamed marathon on Live365 actually kicks off on Thursday at 8 p.m. eastern time, originating from the College of the Marshall Islands located in Majuro, Marshall Islands. You can see the full schedule below.
This year’s WCRD president is Gabriel Menchero, from Frecuencia CEM, at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico.
“College radio has always been a vital platform for hope, connection and new artistic voices,” said Rob Quicke, WCRD co-founder and director of the Pitt School of Journalism and Mass Communications at Marshall University. “This year’s theme speaks directly to the uplifting power of student broadcasting.”
By registering, college stations get access to content that can be played on stations, including sweepers, liners and interviews.
World College Radio Day is an outreach event of the College Radio Foundation, which supports student radio including online, cable, carrier current, FM and AM outlets.
