GatesAir Sets Omnicast as Australian Distribution Channel

Will offer systems to help with DAB+ digital radio transitions

CINCINNATI Effective immediately, GatesAir has appointed Syndey-based Omnicast as its Australian distribution channel. The companies will partner on helping broadcasters through transitions, including for DAB+ digital radio.

Omnicast is a systems integrator and distributor that specializes in radio, TV, cinema and satellite systems. The company offers services across systems design, equipment supply, project management, installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance services. GatesAir will be able to provide Omnicast with products that will assist Australian companies dealing with DAB+ digital radio migration and the shift from legacy to IP transport systems.

DAB radio is already in place in Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney, covering approximately 3 million listeners. Over the next few years, DAB+ is expected to spread into regional areas, covering most of the Australias 22 million residents. Omnicast will use GatesAirs IP-networked DAB+ architecture to assist with the rollout.

GatesAir and Omnicast closed the deal at the recent Broadcast Asia conference.
