German Transmission Systems Provider Media Broadcast to Get Out of FM Business

Company re-evaluated its business interests areas with regard to the challenges of digitization and its future revenue

COLOGNE, Germany �Media Broadcasthas re-evaluated its business interests areas with regard to the challenges of digitization and its future revenue, and the company has decided to sell its analog FM antennas and transmitters by June 30, 2018.��

Media Broadcast CEO�Wolfgang Breuer said inpress release,��In the future, we will pursue a clear digital strategy together with our owner of thefreenet Group.�These include, in particular, the growth areas DVB-T2 HD and DAB + as digital technologies for TV and radio distribution.�We will also continue to provide services in the area of ??transmitter technology, antenna maintenance and network services after the separation from our FM infrastructures.�As a result, we remain a reliable partner for all our business segments.�

Breuer said existing customers will have the first opportunity to purchase FM antennas and transmitters. Remaining inventory will be auctioned off in the second half of 2017, he said in an interview.�He also noted that the company has previously been approached about selling off its FM assets, so he assumes there will be enough takers.�
