Radio and TV transmitter maker Nautel has chosen Fred Baumgartner, CPBE, to fill the newly-created position of TV product manager, the company announced in a press release.
According to the company he will lead the research, development, production and marketing process for television products at the company and will work closely with industry partners as well as the R&D, sales and marketing teams.
Baumgartner has more than 30 years of experience in the broadcast industry. He has served as chief engineer for KDVR(TV), Denver; WTTV(TV), Indianapolis; KHOW(AM/FM), Denver; and WIBA(AM/ FM), Madison.
Baumgartner has also served as director of Broadcast Engineering for Qualcomm’s MediaFLO broadcast TV project and Comcast Media Center. In addition, he led Leitch’s systems engineering group and was a director with Harris Broadcast’s Emerging Business Opportunity group.
“Fred has been involved in many industry organizations and has chaired several of them over the years, and he will continue to do so in his role at Nautel,” noted Nautel President and CEO Kevin Rodgers. “He’s an excellent fit with our core values and business strategies.”
He is a Society of Broadcast Engineers fellow and a fellow at the Radio Club of America. Baumgartner is also a trustee for the Ennes Educational Foundation.
Baumgartner is a longtime contributor to Radio, Radio World and other NewBay Media publications. He has authored hundreds of articles and two books on TV engineering.
