Pilot and NABEF Launch Grant Program to Fund Internships

Spring grant application window closes Aug. 15

The National Association of Broadcasters’ Pilot and the NAB Educational Foundation have announced a new grant program that will fund paid engineering or media technology internships at NAB member companies that do not currently offer internships in these fields.

According to the press release announcing the program, Pilot will offer grants for part-time internships in the spring 2019 academic term and full-time internships next summer. The spring grant application window is now open and closes Aug. 15, and the summer window opens Sept. 5 and closes Nov. 2. The stations chosen to receive the grants will be announced in September and November, respectively.

According to the release, NABEF Pres. Marcellus Alexander said the internship program will result in “an increase in the pool of talent for our industry.”

Pilot also says the grants will also provide resources to assist in selecting and supporting interns, and for the interns to attend the 2019 NAB Show in Las Vegas.

In the announcement NAB Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer Sam Matheny said, “We believe these internships will help NAB member stations attract the best and brightest, and expand awareness of the exciting work that a career in broadcast technology can provide.”
