There were 13,450 licensed radio stations as of Sept. 30. The FCC says the breakdown is: 6,207 FM commercial, 2,441 FM noncom and 4,802 AMs. That compares to 6,161 FM commercial, 2,331 FM noncom and 4,804 AMs for the same period a year ago.
