Greater Media station WRIF in Detroit will use its main signal to promote its multicast “side channel” next weekend.
The heritage rocker markets it this way: Listeners “are going to be in for a surprise the weekend of Jan. 20-21, as WRIF’s HD side channel, Riff 2 invades the airwaves.
The ‘Riff 2 Weekend’ will begin Saturday, Jan. 20 at 6 a.m. and continue all weekend through Sunday night. WRIF listeners will get a taste of what RIFF2 has to offer, including an eclectic mix of local artists, alternative, hip-hop, punk and indie-rock. In addition, listeners will hear Riff 2’s on-air staff, including Suzy Cole, Mark Pennington, Trey and Hightower.”
Its multicast programming launched in the summer of 2005; the station’s efforts have been profiled in Radio World. The RIFF 2 program director is Mark Pennington. Programming can be heard on multicast HD receivers or via www.riff2.com.
