Knoxville, Arkansas couple Shirley and William Jones have each won $1 million in the Sirius Big Choice Sweepstakes. The winner was promised a million dollar prize to the entrant and another million to another person the winner chose. Each winner will receive an annuity of $1 million to be paid as $50,000 a year for 20 years.
Sirius launched the contest in September 2003. The Joneses had recently retired – he from the construction business and she from accounting – and they returned to their home in Arkansas to be closer to friends and family.
The couple purchased a Sirius subscription when they moved back to Arkansas. They entered the contest on the Sirius Web site.
With their winnings, Shirley and William plan to purchase a new car, assist a family member, and make several investments.
