Armstrong Plaque to Be Dedicated June 17

Radio technology inventor remembered in hometown

A plaque in Yonkers, N.Y. commemorating one of the founding inventors of radio technology, Edwin Howard Armstrong, will be unveiled on Monday, June 17.

The precise spot of the plaque is across the street from a site where Armstrong once lived and has a view of Armstrong’s original FM broadcast tower across the Hudson River in Alpine, N.J.

The event, at a train station on Warburton Ave., will be attended by Armstrong relatives. A live broadcast of the event that will be transmitted from the FM is planned as well.
