ASCAP Names Top 25 Holiday Songs
You only *think* you’ve heard “Feliz Navidad” more than any other holiday song.
Actually, it’s probably “Chestnuts Roasting…”
ASCAP put out its top 25 most-performed holiday songs for 2000-2005, based on its most recent performance data. Unlike other rankings you may have read, this one, not surprisingly, emphasizes the writers of the songs.
The most-performed ASCAP holiday song is “The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)” written by Robert Wells and Mel Torme. “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” by J. Fred Coots and Haven Gillespie, was a close second.
