AudioScience Adds ALSA, HPI Driver to Sound Cards

AudioScience Adds ALSA, HPI Driver to Sound Cards

AudioScience has included an integrated Advanced Linux Sound Architecture and HPI driver for its sound card line. ALSA is a sound card Application Programming Interface for Linux. ALSA became part of the Linux kernel distribution in version 2.6 and is supported by Linux vendors.
AudioScience says users no longer need to download extra source code packages or apply patches. The integrated ALSA and HPI driver allows standard Linux applications to play, record and mix PCM audio using AudioScience products; the drive also enables advanced functions such as time scaling and on-card MPEG audio processing through the HPI interface.
Download the source code from www.alsa-project.org. The company says it will include updates in future ALSA drivers as new adapters and features are supported.
