BE Snags Morris Transmitter Order

BE Snags Morris Transmitter Order

From the “Who’s Buying What” column of Radio World:
Morris Communications has ordered five Broadcast Electronics FM transmitters with new digital exciters, the supplier announced.
The group will start the year by replacing a vintage RCA transmitter at KBRJ(FM) in Anchorage, Alaska, now operating at 51kW effective radiated power. The country station will receive a new FM-35T single-tube transmitter and an FXi 250 FM digital exciter, as will two other Morris stations in Anchorage, KEAG(FM) and KWHL(FM).
The stations are being prepared to broadcast at 100 kW ERP, pending the removal of an FCC monitoring station in Anchorage that has restricted C1 service to areas within the metropolitan area.
A power upgrade is also behind the order for two transmitters to be delivered to Morris stations in the Palm Springs, Calif., market. Morris has applied for a power upgrade for KCLB(FM) there, and is expected to increase power from 26.5 kW to 50 kW ERP.
On order for the upgrade are a FM-25T single-tube transmitter and a digital exciter. KYOR(FM) in the same market will receive a FM-2C 2kW solid-state transmitter and exciter to upgrade its booster signal from 500 watts to 2.7 kW ERP.
