On the digital radio promotion front: Beasley station 99.9 Kiss Country WKIS(FM) in Miami is using its annual chili cook-off to promote HD Radio and demonstrate its new multicast stations.
The 21st Annual Chili Cook-off, in conjunction with the South Florida Ford Dealers, is set for Jan. 29. The station’s signature event will feature country stars Keith Urban and Gretchen Wilson, as well as Van Zant, Trick Pony and Craig Morgan.
Kiss Country will demo HD Radio technology heard on “99.9 Kiss Country” WKIS(FM) as well as sister station “Gretchen 99.9-HD2.” The station’s multicast format is named after Gretchen Wilson.
“The HD Radio listening demonstration is a great way for those considering the purchase of an HD Radio receiver to hear country’s best sounds at this year’s Chili Cook-off with a level of fidelity not previously available,” said KISS GM Carole Bowen.
