BMI and iBiquity Digital are formalizing a partnership to both promote new artists and provide content to stations looking for programming for their multicast channels.
With the “HD Radio Artist Spotlight,” iBiquity provides some tour support to up-and-coming artists. They visit local stations looking to populate their HD2 or HD3 channels, give away concert tickets and gain exposure, iBiquity SVP Joe D’Angelo tells Radio World. iBiquity had partnered with BMI on some of these activities before with music events like SXSW and the Key West Songwriter Festival, and now wanted to formalize the program and integrate it into the digital radio developer’s consumer awareness promotion.
Now, other business will be able to join the program; First up is Alpine Electronics, which is part of the team supporting Charlie Worsham on this summer’s Brad Paisley tour.
Initial artists involved in the program’s rollout are Worsham, Jon Pardi, Ashley Monroe, Due West and Muddy Magnolias. Besides Paisley, Due West’s tour has also begun and tours for the other artists begin in August.
BMI Executive Director-Strategic Partnerships & Business Development says iBiquity’s “participation in these events has raised awareness to the creative community and music consumers about the advancement of digital radio and the HD Radio experience.”
