BROADCAP Grows

Broadcast Capital, Inc., which finances the acquisition and construction of media properties, has appointed two new members to its team. Hank Torbert is now executive vice president/COO, as well as its secretary. Prior to joining BROADCAP, Torbert served as a vice president of the Financial Sponsor Group, Middle Market Banking, at JPMorgan Chase Bank, where he covered the firm’s top-tier middle-market financial sponsor clients.
Torbert was responsible for sourcing and financing private equity investment opportunities for financial sponsors investing in the middle market, with a special industry focus on media, healthcare, and consumer products transactions.
John Oxendine has been reappointed as president and chief executive officer, and Larry Bailey of LDB Consulting, Inc., has become vice president-finance. Oxendine will continue to serve as chairman of the board of directors, and Bailey and Erwin Krasnow, of Garvey Schubert and Barer, have been reelected to the board.
Oxendine said Torbert’s role with BROADCAP would be to oversee the firm’s investment operations and to manage the company as it raises a new fund, Blackstar, L.P. The new fund will focus on small to medium size businesses and will leverage the collective industry knowledge of its management team by focusing on media, telecommunications and other industries.
