Broadcasters Again On The Hot Seat Over Indecency

The House Telecom Subcommittee will hold another hearing on broadcast indecency this Thursday and Chairman Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich., hopes to vote out his bill to increase broadcast indecency fines tenfold. The heads of both the FCC and NTIA back the proposal.
Scheduled witnesses for Thursday include: John Hogan, president and chief executive officer, Clear Channel Radio; Lowell “Bud” Paxson, chairman and chief executive officer, Paxson Communications Corporation; Alex Wallau, president, ABC Television Network; Gail Berman, president of entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company; Harry Pappas, chairman and chief executive officer, Pappas Telecasting Companies and Alan Wurtzel, president, research and media development, National Broadcasting Company.
