Broadcasters Continue Storm Fundraising Efforts

NAB’s Gordon Smith praises local broadcasters storm coverage, aid

Many of the efforts by local radio and television stations in Indiana and Kentucky to raise relief funds for the victims of last week’s storms continue.

NAB President and CEO Gordon Smith praised broadcasters’ efforts in response to the news coverage and recovery efforts of local broadcasters before, during and after last week’s tornados that stretched across several states.

“Local stations have saved lives with breaking coverage of these emergency weather situations and are leading the fundraising relief efforts to rebuild communities,” stated Smith. “These terrible tornadoes serve as a reminder that in an era of smartphones, iPads and Netflix, there is no substitute for the indispensable lifeline role of the local broadcaster.”

Variety reports that broadcasters in Indiana and Kentucky are helping to raise relief funds for those affected by the storms in those states.
