Broadcast equipment dealer BSW has established an association with Apple; this is the dealer’s first foray into computing hardware.
BSW plans to offer a range of studio and portable production packages and is carrying the line of Apple desktops, laptops and iPods.
VP of Marketing Steve Kawasaki tells RW Online that customers wanted to buy their studio computers from the same company that supplies their audio production gear, one that knows the radio business. “I guess they’re getting tired of purchasing their computers from companies that also sell kitchen appliances,” Kawasaki said.
He said BSW looked at other suppliers but chose Apple “due to their long-term commitment to the broadcast and music production industries. The overwhelming popularity of Mac-based editing and recording software” as well as Apple’s customer service were also factors, he said.
“Our staff is really excited,” he added. “Many of us here at BSW are long-time Mac users.”
