Buick will integrate Pandora personalized Internet music service and Stitcher SmartRadio into its IntelliLink in-car infotainment system, starting with three 2012 models and one 2013 model. Also included in IntelliLink will be an interface for XM satellite radio though subscription will be required for access to satellite radio programming.
With a wireless Bluetooth or USB connection, Buick IntelliLink enables the user to connect their smartphone to a new 7- or 8-inch touchscreen display radio and control the radio using voice activation and steering wheel-mounted controls.
IntelliLink will be available on every Buick sedan in 2012 and every Buick model in 2013.
“About 70 percent of all new car buyers want some form of connectivity,” in the car, said Micky Bly, executive director leading GM’s infotainment engineering efforts, citing GM research.
Those without a smartphone can still use IntelliLink. The system works with a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone, USB flash drive or digital audio player.
